Picture Frame Hanging; Made Easy

Bryan and I have this collage of pictures in our front room.
I really love it.
We’ve moved 4 times in the last 3 years,
and it only took Bryan taking these pictures down and back up once to find an easier way to do it.
We decided to use old gift bags as guides!
First we traced the frame and then cut it out.
Then we laid our guide over the frame,
and then poked a hole where the nail should go.
When we were done tracing and cutting out all the guides,
we taped them on the wall where we thought we wanted them.
Then we measured each of the spaces to get it perfect
(this is the best part of doing it this way… it’s movable!)
When we had them just right,
we nailed right on top of them.
Then we removed the guides; all of the nails were perfectly placed,
and we hung our pictures.
We’ve saved all the guides now,
so when we move somewhere new, if we want this collage again
all we have to do it pull them out, tape them up, measure..
and ta-da! a perfect collage.
No more guessing where the nail goes, and making 3 holes to get it right!

You could even store the pattern you made (folded in half) inside the fame. This way you don’t loose your pattern pieces when you move or want to move the frames.

I’m so glad you posted this (well re-posted the link more recently). I’ve been wanting to do something like this in our stairway and this is a huge help for getting a non-traditional collage feel!

OMG! PERFECT! So easy why didn’t I every think of that? I think the hard part is knowing where to put the nails. THANK YOU so much! Now maybe I will get my pics back on the walls!

This is the best “how to hang pictures” guide I’ve seen. I’ve seen the idea of tracing the outline of pictures on paper, but never how to mark where the hanger is. Thank you!

Where did you get the frames?

What sizes are your frames? I’d like to do this on my wall at home 🙂

Or… You could use frames that come with their own template (and that let you change them out as often as you like). They’re new, eco-friendly, and 100% made in the USA. I hope you’ll check them out.

[…] the whole wall down. You think this is a GAME? So I grabbed my hammer and a couple nails, used this nifty trick (slightly modified) and in minutes, I had a gorgeous new rack to hang my lovely medals on! I’m in love! […]
