After School Tradition

Traditions are not just for Holidays, right?  For this new school year, we are starting a new After School Tradition.  I am going to make cookies for our after school snack on Fridays – every Friday.  When I mentioned this to my kids they were so excited!!  What a better way to welcome in the weekend.

Last Friday it was Snickerdoodles and Chocolate Chip Cookies have been requested for this Friday.  After that, I hope to try some new cookie recipes.

This year I’m really trying to focus on making fun memories with my kids.  I hope this new tradition brings a lot of fun memories for my kids to always remember.

Do you have any fun traditions that you do with your kids during the school year?

Do you have any cookie recipes that we need to try??  Please share!!

Great idea, Holly! My kids would love this. Cute pic of the kids, too.

What a fun tradition! I always loved coming home from school to my mom’s yummy snacks and treats. One of my favorite cookie recipes is the one from Sunday Baker’s blog (sundaybaker.net) called “pudding cookies”. Maybe you’ve tried them. There is dry instant pudding mixed into the dough. It just does something magical to them! They taste awesome, have a perfect texture, and stay fresh for much longer than most cookies. I like to make a huge batch and freeze whatever we won’t eat within a few days. They taste great out of the freezer and/or warmed in the microwave for a few seconds. =)

When my boys were small, we would have movie nights. Each one had me all to himself to go to see a movie, eat out, and visit. They are 22 and 29 now, but we still have movie nights.

Another morning ritual we had right up until they moved out is the morning hug before going out the door. If it got missed, the day never seemed to go as well.
