I finally did it. I took the plunge. I quit my job.
I had the same job for the last 4 and a half years (since before I was married.) It was a great job, and something I enjoyed doing, but ever since my little boy was born 2 and a half years ago, all I wanted to do is be a Stay at Home Mom.
Going from two incomes to one is kind of scary – but we have faith that this is the right thing for our family.
I didn’t realize how much of a life change it would be. I went from being gone all day every day (scrambling to get dinner on the table when I got home at night) to all of the sudden being home all day (enough time to put something in the crock pot for dinner that night)!
The first week has been wonderful – I think it makes me feel like a better wife and mother because I’m able to keep up on the laundry, the meals, and the cleaning.
But here is where I need your help… What are fun, educational things I can be doing with my 2 year old? I would love any comments and advice!
I think I need to go out and buy some craft supplies, because so far – this has been the extent of our crafts:
Hurray for being a full time mom! It’s the hardest and most rewarding thing I’ll ever do in my life… right?
Here is an uplifting video about motherhood! Check it out HERE.
all you need is PINTREST for ideas! good luck!!
Great post Ashlee. I love it. Read my post on melting crayons for the winter. It was fun.
Hi I’m a new reader to your blog and really enjoy reading. It is so funny that you asked about a craft today because I just went and got supplies for one. I will be posting it tomorrow on my blog, http://www.guldenab.blogspot.com . I also have a 2 year old and right now we are working on colors so I bought foam sheets to make fish and am making a fishing pole so he can fish in the living room for colors. I am also a stay at home mom and love it. I think you will love it too! Good Luck with the transition. 🙂
I always tried to include my boys in whatever I was doing. And when children are two-five years old, cleaning seems like fun. One thing both boys really enjoyed was “washing the dishes”. I would put warm water with dish soap in the sink, and some plastic dishes, and my little boy would stand on a armchair and “wash” the dishes.
Even as an adult, my oldest still likes to vacuum, and he recently told me that he still pretends he’s a giant vacuum monster, sucking up villagers. Who knew?
