The Gift of Giving Life

This book review is a stop of the Virtual Book Tour for The Gift of Giving Life
I have mentioned before that the birth of my children have been the most deeply spiritual experiences that I have had in my life. I know it is the same for every woman.  When I was pregnant with Graham this last year, I was searching for information about a possible VBA2C (vaginal birth after 2 cesareans) and I found Robyn.  Robyn not only offered me friendship and love… but also wisdom.
Robyn has co-authored a book called “The Gift of Giving Life”, and I truly believe that though every part may not be for every woman, there is undoubtably something in it for every woman.
I found this book to be a great comfort and hope while I prepared for a natural, unmedicated birth. It deepened my testimony of women’s divine purposes, and my power as a woman.  The amazing part for me, happened when I didn’t get the birth I wanted..  I found myself back into this book again, and it morphed into what I needed it to be then, too.
One of my favorite parts since having Graham has been part of a birth story someone shared in which she said, “It’s up to us to recognize the miracle in each birth–the sweetness and the tender mercies that are still there for us, no matter how our babies come into the world, and especially when they come in a way we may not have originally planned.”
This book fills a missing piece for woman as they prepare to give birth. It’s a spiritual journey, and this book is a beautiful companion to that spiritual awakening.  It is largely for an LDS audience, but I’m confident that women of all faiths would find it enlightening and helpful.
If you or someone you know is having a baby, this book is would be a perfect gift.
I’m so glad I found Robyn… and this book.

  1. I just want to hold Graham again. He is absolutely precious. And, I am so glad I found you, Cali! Thank you for your kind words.

  2. I love that part of the book too, I remember that story and it reminds me of how humble and open we have to be as moms to allow our births to unfold however they need to. That while we can be active participants it is only to a point. But regardless of how our births be it can be powerful and spiritual and amazing.
