BEST Bread Recipe

We love some good bread at our house.  We like to keep the homemade bread stocked, but occasionally we run out.  When that happens, the kids will ask every morning when we are going to make more homemade bread.  They prefer it over store bought, no contest!  This is the recipe that my husband grew up on.  His grandma made it, his dad made it, and now he makes it.  I occasionally make it, because he is a busy guy.  But most of the time, it’s him making the bread.  We make the 6 loaf recipe in our Bosch.  Other people seem to like to do the 3 loaf recipe so it is a more manageable amount of dough.

BEST Bread Recipe (6 loaves)
2 1/4 cups wheat or 4 cups of wheat flour
3 cups milk
2 cups honey
1/3 cup sugar
3 TBS salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 cups warm water
4 TBS instant dry yeast
10 cups bread flour

BEST Bread Recipe (3 loaves)
1 1/8 cups wheat or 2 cups of wheat flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup honey
3 TBS sugar
1 1/2 TBS salt
2 TBS vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 TBS instant dry yeast
5 cups bread flour


Grind your wheat, if needed.

Combine the milk, honey, salt, sugar, and oil in a glass bowl.  Microwave the mixture for 3 minutes.  After microwaving, mix the ingredients well.  This mixture should be warm, but not hot before combining it with the other ingredients to avoid overheating (and killing) the yeast.

Pour the water and yeast in the mixing bowl.  Add the milk and honey mixture into the mixing bowl.  Add the ground wheat and start your mixer.  Add the bread flour one cup at a time.  Mix for about 10 minutes or until dough is smooth.  Add a little more flour if needed.

Shape dough and place into bread pans.  Let raise until double in size.  Bake at 325 for 45 minutes.
